BigPond Elite® ADSL plans can provide download speeds of up to a maximum of 20Mbps to eligible customers in selected areas and up to 8Mbps in many other areas. Maximum download speeds are based on Telstra tests. Average speeds will be lower and actual speeds vary due to a number of factors including:
- Network configuration
- Line quality & length
- Your telephone exchange
- Your location
- Internet traffic
- Your equipment and software.
About 70% of customers on the 8Mbps plan can access speeds around 6Mbps or more. About 50% of customers on the 20Mbps plan can access speeds around 10Mbps or more. Some existing customers may need to purchase a new modem to achieve speeds in excess of 8Mbps.
Download speeds on devices connected via a Wi-Fi modem or network extender may be slower than on devices connected by ethernet cable.
BigPond Elite Cable plans can provide download speeds of up to a maximum of 30Mbps when downloading from capable sites or across multiple sites. Average speeds will be lower and actual speeds vary due to factors including:
- Your location
- Your plan
- Internet traffic
- Your equipment/software and the way data is transmitted
Some modems are not compatible with these speeds.
